80 trainers in all were trained in four countries in a one-day training. The training was e carried out by the instructors who participated in the instructors’ training in Bulgaria. Trainers were volunteers or staff members of the Red Cross in the participating partner countries. After experiencing the Introduction for Risk Reduction themselves, trainers were given background information on the IRR and its structure. Contents of the trainer’s training were elements of the training for citizens, training methodologies and background information on the relevant topics. The trained trainers appreciated the innovative methodology as well as the training material. Excercises using photos as well as a prototype disaster kit were especially appreciated. Participants felt that apart from enabling them to run the Introdution to Risk Reduction, they also had the opportunity to enhance their personal awareness for disaster preparedness.
The handbook for trainers is available in languages of the partners:
For trainers without disaster management background additional complementary background can be downloaded too.
