Aware & Resilient is a European project co-funded by the Civil Protection Financial Instrument of the European Union.
Co-ordinated by the Austrian Red Cross, it is being carried out with Red Cross partners in Bulgaria, France, Latvia and Romania. It is running from April 2013 to March 2015.
The overall aim of the Aware & Resilient project is to raise the awareness of (younger) citizens of the value and benefits of disaster preparedness, in addition to creating community links.
Its main pillars include:
- Translating and adapting a training programme for trainers to enable them to run a one-hour awareness raising activity for the population
- Augmenting and translating a serious gaming tool ‘Worst Case Hero’ in all participating languages
- Conducting a Community-based emergency exercise in each participating country.
The kick-off meeting took place from 6 to 7 May 2013 in Vienna. The second partner meeting was carried out in Paris from 16 to 17 September 2013.
